Native bitcoin wallets appeared on Samsung smartphones

The Korean manufacturer of smartphones and electronics added to the application store its own cryptocurrency wallet Samsung Blockchain Wallet. The features of the native application for the management of digital assets include increased security for the storage of private keys. For this purpose, a separate section is created in the memory, which can only be accessed by pin code or fingerprint. Other applications and the operating system are not allowed to read or write to the private partition.

To install the Samsung cryptocurrency wallet, you will need a Galaxy series device with Android 9.0 or higher on board. Also, hardware wallets from most manufacturers can be used to store private keys and confirm transactions, including Ledger Nano S-series and X-series.

Support for bitcoin, ethereum, tron and all tokens issued on the ERC-20 and TRC-20 standards is already available. In the future, Samsung plans to add a news feed about events in the cryptocurrency world, available directly from the wallet. Previously, the opportunity to use a separate storage for Samsung Blockchain Keystore private keys was available only to owners of the Galaxy S10, but now this service has become available on most devices of the manufacturer’s line.
